|Summary||Status: endangered (Category I), under threat of disappearance. Once found throughout the world. In Kazakstan only 2 nests were found; in 1935 in the Naurzum Reserve and in 1958 near Lake Markakol. The peregrine falcon winters in South Kazakstan Region but the number of wintering birds is declining. Basic limiting factors are low reproduction due to the impact of chlororganic agents, human activities and illegal shooting. There are 4 individuals in the Almaty Zoo. Artificial breeding and educating people to protect raptors are necessary to preserve this species.|
